Leatherat

Artist Web Site
Artist MySpace Page

Leatherat are five musicians dedicated to playing original folk-rock music loud, fast and to the highest standard. “The ‘ats” (as they are affectionately known) are based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The current line up consists of Pete Bailey (Vocals, Mandolin & Guitar), Jono Watts (Violin), Bret Nicholls (Guitar), Jeremy Paul Carroll (Bass) & Hugh Edwards (Drums).

Leatherat’s live show captures the excitement of a rock gig combined with the influences of traditional and original folk tunes. Their show has a high level of energy that is instantly communicated to their audience spanning all generations, from teenagers, to hardcore rockers, punks and nostalgic folkies! With a stage presence to challenge any contemporary band their carefully crafted songs combine with their own sheer enjoyment of the music to fuel their powerful performance.

Leatherat played their first gig in 2004. Since then, they’ve been playing venues all over the UK, building up their ever-increasing fan base. 2005 / 2006 saw the band record their debut album with guests such as Ric Sanders (Fairport Convention) P J Wright (Dylan Project) Gareth Turner (Little Johnny England) and Dan Plews (Dansall) to name a few.

The album, ‘Temporary Immortality’ published by High Score Productions, launched to a capacity audience at the Mill Banbury in 2006 and provided the spring board to playing their first festivals, culminating in a triumphant performance at the Cropredy Fringe Festival and sharing the stage with world famous acts such as Fairport Convention and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys at Emma’s Trust Festival.

On the forming of Leatherat, Pete Bailey say's "...I was sick of [‘Nice Folk Music’] and formed a band to put a hard rock beat behind the mandolin and violin, giving rise to Punk/Folk (or POLK!) And thus, for want of a better name, and already being known for my distinctive headwear, Leatherat was born!" .

"I have to convey my thanks to the rest of the band and to everyone that has helped supported, encouraged or inspired us, including yourself, Carl Lake, Andy Shaw, Pangea Studios, Stargoat Music, The New Flyer, The Lock Stock and Barrel, etc (the list of pubs is endless)............ The ‘at’s in the chair!!"

Civilized Tears

Artist MySpace Page

"I don't want to fuel fires with my opinions or verdicts. I have tried to piece together an understanding of how and why, but the answers fade as quickly as they come and if I fall into the abyss of fear I will be of no use to this world so the best I can do is remain optimistic that we can evolve from this struggle and realize that in this journey we are all one."
Tim Bennett of Civilized Tears

Having lived in Tokyo, Brazil, New York, LA, Miami, Milan, London, Paris and Seattle, Tim Bennett of Civilized Tears is no stranger to the beauty that the world can offer. He is also no stranger to the how ugly it can be.

Bennett worked painstakingly hard, doing every job conceivable in order to survive and feed his passion for music and lyrics. After painting houses, acting in commercials, posing nude for worldwide publications, cleaning toilets, canvassing for political organizations, playing in the New York subways, being a courier, being arrested for spying, being a waiter, a bartender, a cook and a gardener, working in clothes stores, selling paintings, selling blood and having to be protected by the Mafia, Tim Bennett maintains that he has never sold his soul!

He has had lunch with Mussolini's grand daughter, been stood up by Phil Spector, been abducted by an Italian Countess, been invited to marry into General Franco's family, been stranded on a desert island, survived two major earthquakes, been the first white man to meet the Sultan of Brunei's witch doctor and has driven through the streets of L.A. under police escort.

Tim has lived on the emotional fringes of life, composing songs that write themselves out of the true experiences that he has had and it is this that makes him so unique and original as an artist.

Solid Juice Band

Artist Web Site
Artist MySpace Page

SOLID JUICE are based in and around Farnham, UK "...... a splendid little Surrey market town with some great Pubs, located on the doorstep of Guildford" [AA Guide to Little Places near Big Places - Alocoholics Anonymous Free Press, 1897].

Originally called JUICE, we changed the name coz there's another UK band of same name .... and we wanted to avoid any conflict on the highway to inevitable fame and stardom that awaits us all!

Founder members of SOLID JUICE are Richie, Ali, Andy and Simon, all ex-members of the GERBS, a long-serving local band of some years (and some years), formed by Colin (of the Webb variety and originating member of the now famed AMITY band of the early 1920's). We've recently been joined by guitar virtuoso (and very tall person) Dave "Davros" White.

For more band biog and other goodies, please go to our website at www.juiceband.biz .

4Play

Colin Webb guitar and vocals, Simon Callow keyboards and vocals, Russ Brown bass guitar and vocals and Helleanor Webb saxophone, flute and vocals comprise the line-up that blends a mixture of jazz, ragtime, country rock, blues and vocal harmonies to produce a great laid back sound. Whether they are performing their own or other people's songs the band's distinctive approach and style, (they have no fear of occasionally improvising during a song if it feels right), creates an exciting show designed to make themselves and the audience feel good.

Don't be fooled though if from time to time you see more than four people on stage - they have a few itinerant wandering minstrel friends wielding such implements as fiddles, guitars and drumsticks who have been known to secretly creep on and augment the line-up for a tune or two.

IM'N'IM

(Do not confuse with EMINEM who is a famous RAP artist and only one person)

Sporting two acoustic guitars and occasionally two kazoos, Colin (Bad Penny) Webb and Richard (Hot Lips) Elmer play and sing a mixture of terrific but obscure songs making absolutely sure they stay that way. From ragtime to richtime, (richtime is Elmer's strange way of keeping tempo), their unique vocal and playing style brings to these songs a musical quality that can only be guessed at.

Do not miss the Fab 2.

They are currently working on their new album `SWINGALONGAIM`N'IM' which, for the less discerning music lovers, should be available at the festival.
