IM'N'IM-

(Do not confuse with EMINEM who is a famous RAP artist and only one person)

Sporting two acoustic guitars and occasionally two kazoos, Colin (Bad Penny) Webb and Richard (Hot Lips) Elmer play and sing a mixture of terrific but obscure songs making absolutely sure they stay that way. From ragtime to richtime, (richtime is Elmer's strange way of keeping tempo), their unique vocal and playing style brings to these songs a musical quality that can only be guessed at.

Do not miss the Fab 2.

They are currently working on their new album `SWINGALONGAIM`N'IM' which, for the less discerning music lovers, should be available at the festival.

The True Deceivers

Artist Web Site

The True Deceivers came into being in late 2003, featuring members of some of the area's finest roots/rock bands. Since then, they have established a growing reputation as one of the most entertaining live bands around.

The band's musical heritage gives some subtle hints about what you might expect to hear. Graham (lead vocals, guitar) formerly fronted Plenty. Mark (fiddle, mandolin, vocals) and Nick (guitar, mandolin, vocals) arose from the ashes, as it were, of the Blazing Homesteads. Dee (bass guitar) was also part of the Homesteads, and both Dee and Jamie (drums) played with Eat the Sofa (and occasionally still do).

If you listen closely (ok, you don't actually have to listen that closely) you'll hear shades of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Steve Earle and others, combined with a growing catalogue of original True Deceivers tunes, soon to be available on the band's debut CD. The True Deceivers are a live band not to be missed.

Paul King

Artist Web Site

When Mungo Jerry broke up in the nineteen seventies, two of it's founder members - Paul King and Colin Earl - formed The King Earl Boogie Band.  You can read about them elsewhere on this page.  Over the years Paul has been a prolific songwriter and has appeared under several guises - P.Rufus King, Levi Grumble, and Paladin to name a few. He has also played with several line ups in addition to the KEBB, including Rhode Island Red, The Jigolo Jug Band and Skeleton Crew.

Paul is a superb artist, a gifted poet and a prolific songwriter. His songs reflect his love of words and are a magic cross between Dylan and the old English folk culture - with just the right level of boogie added!

In 1996 Paul retired to Cornwall leaving the KEBB to manage without him, but he has recently moved back into the West London area and he has also returned to his favourite genre of Jug band boogie playing.  His band at Weyfest include Colin Pattenden and Geoff Ward, both long time members of Skeleton Crew.

The Jackie Lynton Band

Artist Web Site

Jackie Lynton has been famous more times than most of have had hot dinners!
He started his career as a young ballad singer in the late fifties and early sixties - in the same shiny suited genre as the young Billy Fury - he had chart hits with All Of Me,  Teddy Bears Picnic and Somewhere Over The Rainbow.   As the sixties progressed Jack expanded from the ballad style (at which he is still a mean exponent) into the blues and rock style which he really loves best, and he wound up as the front man for The Savoy Brown Blues Band , becoming the cover hero for their legendary LP "Jack The Toad".

Jack has always been a bit of a poet, and during the late seventies he struck up a songwriting partnership with Rick Parfitt of Status Quo;   the lyrics of many of Status Quo's headbanging hits come from Jacks pen.   His next venture into the public eye was as lead singer for Diesel - a band created by the Quo's drummer, John Coghlan (now a member of KEBB - come back on Sunday to see him).   During the nineties Jack became a familiar background figure in "The Queen Vic" as an extra in TV's  Eastenders; and for the last twenty years he has played locally in pubs and clubs.

He is still writing and recording songs and he still commands an amazing vocal talent for blues and rock'n'roll.    His fame and respect among fellow musicians is legendary.  Almost anyone you meet on the music scene will have a story about him - usually rude!  His association with the music business over the years means he is often called on by the BBC to participate in documentaries about such colleagues as Long John Baldry,  Dave "Screaming Lord" Sutch and others.   He is a consummate entertainer and - if the audience is right - will pepper his performance with blue jokes.  This respect from his peers means that he has always managed to attract an amazing array of talent to his band - you can judge for yourself at Weyfest that the current line up of The Jackie Lynton Band is nothing short of excellent.

Warblefly

Artist Web Site
Artist MySpace Page

w a r b l e f l y started out in 1995 as a group of friends got together to drink and play folk tunes. Unhindered by skill but full of energy they soon progressed from playing in a small college bar to local pubs, folk clubs, art centres and countless private functions until in 1998 they were invited to Cairo, Egypt. Here during a mental week of hugely successful gigs they changed their sound to a faster and punchier style and never looked back.

They went on to win the prize by popular vote for Best Act at a major Dutch street music festival, gigged in France and continued to play their usual haunts in England. In 2001 they released the album the sinful, wise and insane and they made increasingly frequent appearances at festivals around England. In 2003 warblefly were invited to play at the Glastonbury Festival and May 2004 saw the release of their new album crashing through the trees. The warblefly repertoire now contained an impressive catalogue of strong originals as well as trad standards that have been given the trademark warblefly treatment. The highlight of 2004 was a support slot for the legendary Shane MacGowan.

More festival appearances for bigger crowds than ever before followed in 2005. The next year was spent mostly with refreshing the line-up and the repertoire after the departure of lead singer/bassist Griff but warblefly still managed to squeeze in a few cracking festivals. In December 2006 a new demo was recorded and the band is now once again ready to get up and get the crowds going.

Rodney plays two guitars - at the same time!
January will be the month for the start of Rodney's next tour and the last transformation from folk singer to rock star will be complete. The winter tour through the Southern US will be with the three piece band that Rodney has been rehearsing and writing for the new album to be released in 2007.

The band will consist of Dan Walzer on the drums and Amos Heller on bass guitar. Rodney will be playing guitars and anything with strings, keys, or anything that makes noise when you rub it, strum it, or hit it with a stick. A very exciting time for the house of Rodney. Cheers.
Rodneys 2006 summer tour is finally over and he will be locked up in a recording studio for most of the rest of the year with a few shows sprinkled in to keep him in practice. After 10,000 miles driven in his van, many hours in airplanes, and many mornings waking up with a startled, "Where the hell am I at?" Rodney would say that the tour was a definite success over all. The Summer of 2006 will be remembered as the time when South London discovered the ambidextrous guitar player and the new audiences all over the States would say, "Wow, he sings."

Nashville Teens

Artist Web Site

Formed in 1962, The Nashville Teens were the product of the merger of two local bands in the Weybridge, Surrey, area. The band were unusual in that hey retained two lead singers - Ray Phillips and Arthur Sharp.  The name was derived from the Everly Brothers song "Nashville Blues".

After some experimentation during their "apprenticeship" in Hamburg (including the short lived addition of a third lead vocal - Terry Crow) the band settled down and there were few changes of personnel during the early sixties.   In 1966 drummer Barry Jenkins left to join The Animals, and pianist John Hawken joined Keith Relf of The Yardbirds to form Renaissance.

Art Sharp moved on in the early 1970's to follow a career in record producing, and today Ray Phillips is the sole "original" band member. Ray has stayed loyal to the Nashville Teens through thick and thin, turning down offers to move to other groups, including an offer from Jack Bruce to be lead singer with Cream.  Ray is a keep fit enthusiast and as well as his dynamic performance with the Nashville Teens, he also works with the World Class Maclaren Motor Racing Team.

Colin cut his teeth as a session guitarist for the likes of Englebert Humperdink and Leapy Lee in the sixties, but made his mark as a founder member of Manfred Mann's Earth Band in the early seventies. He has also played with Mungo Jerry, The King Earl Boogie Band and The Jackie Lynton Band.
Simon is a music teacher by day and has played with many other bands, including Cheques In The Post and The Ian Campbell Blues band.
Ken is an accomplished lead guitarist who has played with other bands including Spank The Monkey, The King Earl Boogie Band and the Jackie Lynton Band.
Despite his youthful looks, Adrian has drummed with the Teens for 25 years, and - apart from Ray - is the longest serving band member in the Groups history.

Unique amd timeless -  the legend that's Steve Gibbons has withstood the fads and fashions of the music business for over four decades. Analyse his music and selfpenned songs and you'll find the influences of blues, country even psychedelia. Born in Birmingham, he first came to prominence as the leader of The UgIys, an
uncompromising outfit at the forefront of the city's burgeoning 1960's music scene. By the early 1970's he had formed the five-piece Steve Gibbons Band which enjoyed success in the singles charts during the next decade and bas been perennially popular on the live circuit ever since.

With a huge international following, his long career has encompassed 15 albums and along the way he has worked and toured with many bands including The Who, Little Feat, Lynard Skynard and E.L.O.  In 1981 SGB responded to an invitation from the German Democratic Republic and become the first Western rock band to tour the major cities of East Germany.

Steve is an inspired songwriter and many of his songs feature colourful characters, the most notable cover of a Steve Gibbons song is the title track of Roger Daltrey's album "One Of The Boys".

With a huge repertoire of original material to draw on, his setIist is always fresh and surprising, he draws the audience into a musical world with it's own special history and culture, in his hands rock 'n' roll is a magical force. It's a formula that works in venues as diverse as Ronnie Scotts, Madison Square Garden or the Isle Of Man TT Races and it's a formula that has won him tremendous respect from fellow musicians.

These days Steve is as busy as ever with appearances as a solo artist with SGB or touring with guitarist P.J Wright and Fairport Convention's  Dave Pegg, Simon NicoI and Gerry Conway as 'The DyIan Project.

Project BlueBeam

Artist MySpace Page

Project Bluebeam were formed during the summer of 2004 by school friends Paul Lipscombe, Gareth Davies, Mike Linge, and twin brothers Mark and Steve Mulcaster. Since then the band have been on a whirlwind crusade to promote their blend of raucous guitar-driven hooks, pounding big-beat bass lines and soulful vocal melodies - which has culminated in a truly high-energy live performance and a strong, dedicated following on the gig circuit.

Whilst the band’s roots are firmly placed in the Farnborough and Aldershot area, Project Bluebeam are following in the footsteps of local contemporaries such as Hundred Reasons and Reuben, regularly playing packed-out, mainstream London venues such as The Peel in Kingston and Bull & Gate, Camden. The bands other successes include winning the Surrey Battle of the Bands competition which landed them the chance to grace the stage at Guilfest playing alongside the likes of The Levellers and Fun Lovin’ Criminals. The band has also had a wealth of management interest, which included a spell with 101% Music Management to help develop the
band’s following and overall exposure through a hectic gigging schedule across the south of the UK.

The five members of Project Bluebeam bring an eclectic mix of musical tastes into the melting pot. In channelling many diverse influences, the band have created their own unique musical direction that needs to be experienced live to be truly appreciated. The future’s bright for these 5 lads from Hampshire. With a freshly squeezed 5 track studio EP to promote and a busy schedule of live performances ahead of them, it’s only a matter of time before the industry takes note…
